TDS & Tax Compliance: frequently asked questions
What are the TDS return due dates?
Quarterly TDS returns are generally due by 31 July, 31 October and 31 January for the first three quarters and by 31 May for the last quarter, subject to any extension notified by the government.
What is the penalty for late TDS returns?
A late filing fee of ₹200 per day applies under Section 234E, capped at the TDS amount, and a penalty can also apply under Section 271H. Interest is charged separately for late deduction or deposit.
Which TDS return form applies to us?
Form 24Q is for TDS on salaries, 26Q for other payments to residents, 27Q for payments to non-residents and 27EQ for TCS. We file whichever apply to your payments.
When is advance tax payable?
In instalments by 15 June (15%), 15 September (45%), 15 December (75%) and 15 March (100%) of the estimated tax, where the tax payable for the year after TDS is ₹10,000 or more.
