1. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) is similar, but it stays in your browser and is read only by the website's own scripts; it is not sent with every request. Items in sessionStorage are deleted when you close the tab. Items in localStorage stay until you clear them.
We use three kinds:
- Essential: needed for something you ask for, such as sending a form securely, verifying your number or signing in.
- Analytics: help us count visits and see how the site is used.
- Preference: remember display choices such as light or dark mode.
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not use social media tracking pixels. How we handle personal data in general is explained in our Privacy Policy.
2. Cookies we use

4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-JN30SJNQQ5), a service of Google, to see which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, which devices and browsers they use, and their approximate location. We also record two events: when an enquiry form is submitted (with the form, the service chosen and the page) and when someone clicks our phone, email or WhatsApp link. We do not send your name, mobile number, email or message to Google.
The Google Analytics script loads after the page has loaded, or when you first scroll, tap or press a key. It runs for every visitor: we do not currently show a cookie banner or ask for a separate choice first, so please use the options below if you do not want to be measured. Google processes this data on its servers, which may be outside India. Google says that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We keep analytics data for 14 months.
How to opt out of Google Analytics
- Install Google's Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Block or delete cookies whose names start with _ga for ethicscomputer.in in your browser settings.
- Use a browser or extension that blocks scripts from googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com.
Our site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals, so please use one of these options instead. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. How to delete or block cookies and storage
You control cookies and browser storage in your browser, not on this page:
- Delete: clearing "cookies and site data" for ethicscomputer.in removes both our cookies and our localStorage items. In Chrome and Edge this is under the privacy settings; in Firefox under Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data; in Safari under Privacy, Manage Website Data. Mobile browsers have the same options in their settings.
- Block: you can block all cookies, only third-party cookies, or cookies for a particular site.
- Private browsing: cookies and storage from a private or incognito window are deleted when you close it.
Clearing or blocking applies only to the browser and device you change it on.
6. What stops working if you block essential cookies
- Blocking APPSID: enquiry and contact forms cannot be submitted (the security check fails with a "session expired" message), mobile number verification cannot be completed, and you cannot sign in to any portal.
- Blocking remember_token: nothing breaks; you just sign in each time.
- Blocking browser storage: the chat assistant cannot keep track of your conversation between pages.
- Blocking analytics or preference items: the site works normally. Your theme and language reset on each visit and the "recently viewed" list stays empty.
7. Third-party content and services
- Google Maps: some location pages show an embedded Google map. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.
- Code libraries: some pages load code from cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) and jsDelivr. Your browser sends these services your IP address and browser details when it downloads the files.
- Payment pages: Razorpay, Cashfree and PayU may set their own cookies on their checkout pages. We do not control or read them.
- Hosting: our hosting provider, Hostinger, delivers the site through its network and may process your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks.
8. Changes to this policy
We update this page when we add, change or remove a cookie or storage item. The "last updated" date above shows the last change. For anything else about your personal data, see our Privacy Policy or contact us (see Contact and grievance officer below).
