FAQs
Startup India Registration: frequently asked questions
Who is eligible for Startup India recognition?
A private limited company, LLP or registered partnership firm incorporated within the last 10 years, with turnover of no more than ₹100 crore in any financial year, working on innovation or improvement of products, processes or services, or a scalable business model. Entities formed by splitting or reconstructing an existing business are not eligible.
Does DPIIT recognition give an income tax exemption automatically?
No. Recognition makes you eligible to apply separately for the Section 80-IAC tax holiday, which needs approval from the Inter-Ministerial Board. We can help with that application as well.
Can a proprietorship get Startup India recognition?
No. You first need to incorporate as a private limited company, LLP or registered partnership firm, which we can also handle.
Is there a government fee for DPIIT recognition?
The recognition application on the Startup India portal does not carry a government fee; our professional fee covers the eligibility review, drafting and filing.
